Dear Autocratic Leader:
I have taken the opportunity of enclosing, "No Flowers for Carlini."
In the hospital for an operation, Carlini has a small but significant transformation; by having to submit to the regimen of the staff and by observing the other, more seriously sick patients, he rediscovers his own empathy for others.
My venture runs approximately 4,200 words.
I am a published writer. My short capital has appeared in F.O.C. Review, Welter, Dan River Stories, Re:al, in the "Overtime" chapbook series of Workers Write! in several iterations of Conceit, in Spontaneous Spirits, CounterPunch, Tuck Magazine and in Clever Magazine. My short fiction, “Under the Weather,” was selected for inclusion in 2016's Best New Writing.
My novel, Mr. Green Goes to Town, concerns the comic and not-so-comic conflicts over a phony debt between Phil Harte and the conman/Casanova Lonnie Hazel.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
johnvc
