Good morning fellas,
I just had one of those laying in bed half asleep deals in regards to the changes at TQR. Let me know if it resonates with you. I was thinking SHARK TANK as far as the new dynamic for submissions, but that doesn't quite jibe. The only shark is me, as the gatekeeper who decides if a sub makes it to the floor to be read whereas in the show Shark Tank, we've got 4 or 5 sharks making offers and deals to prospective entrepreneurs. So...it strikes me more as an AUDITION, maybe like American Idol, with only one judge. Or an actor doing a screen test. Anyhow. I'll probably clean up the new verbiage in the guidelines a bit to reflect this new and improved angle on my thought processes or whatever. What do you think?

Oh hey, please reply to this on the site as your respective avatar. That way I don't have to paste it myself into the site. Capiche?
I've copied this to the BUSINESS OFFICE under the same title TED TALK 3-8-23

I like the whole pre-vetting, get-with-the-program, know-what-you're-getting-into, we-are-not-good-place-to scatter-sub-or-dump-old-trunk-stuff, open approach. Like just hitting the floor should take some doing. Much as I love (and miss) Doomey, though, I'm not that attached to his unique vernacular or TQR analogies (e.g., to financial markets). Would suggest let us each have our own voices and connections.

So we're good on the pre-floor audition. Excellent! As far as your second point, TQR's essence is steeped in the financial lingo that pervades our non-existent brick and mortar place of business
FOR EXAMPLE:
venture capitalist for prospective submitter
capital for story submission
capital manager for editor
capital gain for accepted submission ie published story
etc, etc.
I am not willing to tear apart that world building that TQR has been working on since its inception. If, however, you're talking about specific Doomey-isms, such as The Deluge and Slap my ass and call my Sally or Bukowski's ghost and other such avatar specific creations that have stuck around as staples of the TQR brand, then please do start creating your own site-specific details to this ongoing neverending story that I intended this place to be. If you want to turn the floor into something else, that's cool. It's your space and you can make it into a world of pure imagination like old Willy Wonka sang about nigh on 50 years ago today. Capiche?
Admittedly, the idea of the Deluge, where all rejected capital are scattered to the wind, has become somewhat of a stalwart of TQR lore, I would say. But do with it as you will. If around here seniority is a thing, on the floor now, you're the king.
