Dear Mr. Rorschalk:
I have taken the liberty of sending you my short venture, “What's in the Paper Sacks?” Phil Harte is shanghaied by his pot-selling partner, Skunky and the reprobate Ralph to (unsuccessfully) rob a liquor store. Later when Ralph attempts to steal Harte's rucksack with two paper sacks full of bags of marijuana, Harte kneecaps Ralph and humiliates him. Ralph vows revenge. He and fellow reprobate “Little Stevie” Gervaske take Harte and Skunky from the local watering hole, Dooley's, and drive them to Goldsilver with the intent of throwing them down a mine shaft.
My joint runs approximately 5,550 words for this single submission.
I am a published writer. My work has appeared in CONCEIT, Tuck Magazine, CounterPunch, Clever and, most recently, in Euphemism. My short piece, “Under the Weather,” was selected for inclusion in 2016 Best New Writing.
Because of a glitch in the Open Office program my computer expert tells me is unfixable, there may be a large gap in text between pages two and three.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
johnVC
