Dear Mr. Rorschalk, Bulldust, Sturgeon and Rockefeller,
Thank you so much for taking the time to evaluate 'How I Truly Met Your Mother' a few weeks ago. Apologies for the delayed response, I was caught up with workload from my day job.
Literary journals almost never provide any feedback, let alone on a novelette-length piece. That's one of the reasons I submitted to TQR, and also why I will recommend you folks on Duotrope. I'm deeply humbled and grateful for the kind words you shared in the first two rounds of Capital Discrimination, as well as the clear pointers in Mr. Rorschalk's closing message. I promise to learn and keep sharpening my craft. Who knows, I may be back soon with an entirely different cap.
So, while we're on the topic of craft, I'd like to ask one final question specifically to Sturgeon, who said in his review ' Is it perfect? Hell no, it's a hot mess'. Did the 'mess' refer to excessive and disorganized themes/dialogue-to-narration ratio/arcs/other aspects? (Basically, what could I have done better that would seem less messy?)
Thank you again, and good luck! I'll be sure to encourage more VCs to submit to TQR — the best journal for constructive feedback on longform capital.
