Dear jane,
I noticed the word count was right on the edge of our minimum requirement. Once I took away the extraneous character list, dedication to nobody and needless chapter numbers and chapter titles, the word count had dipped below the 4K requirement by 51 words. Seeing as how it was so close I thought I'd read the first chapter just in case the content might make it worth our while to fudge the numbers just a bit. Alas, it didn't grab me and make me want to keep reading and am going to disqualify it from moving forward to the Floor on the word count technicality. Thank you for thinking of us and I wish you success with your fiction in the future.
