The story "Mincemeat" was pathetic. What science fiction element did it carry, anyway? I think your magazine publishes only a prejudiced version of a developing country. If there is a story from one, you want it to reflect the biased ideas you have about the developing country. This is sad. For all the bragging of vetting of floor, terminal and monkey, your stories aren't all that good, aren't very science fiction. Sorry to say that.

Hey Einstein...you know why it didn't carry any science fiction element? ... ... ... It's not science fiction! Tell your compadre padmahaha or whatever his name is to go cry somewhere else. And, I am sorry to say, nobody cares what you think.

Not true, boss. I care what this injured wannabe writer thinks. And, actually, I kind of agree and can identify with her feelings. Back in my thin-skinned early days of subbing, I often felt exactly the same. Even here I garnered some pretty harsh (but also some very kind) reviews. I remember once reading through all the published cap here and, except for a book review by Boligard, thinking, Meh. But when you read in a melancholic state, everything seems lacking. Still, the vast majority, literally all but a handful or two, of the stories published today are, in my opinion, at best, mediocre. Of course I am only extrapolating from the very small fraction of them that I read. But how else can zillions of zines fill their pages? One of the things, in addition to our honest and unfiltered feedback, I love about TQR is that we don't publish to the beat of any drum. If for an entire year nothing worthy passes our gauntlet, then nothing is published.
I did take umbrage to this statement by the VC, albeit still smarting from her pants-down spanking: "Probably since these are from the west where it is always cold, grey, and boring, so are the stories." As opposed to the East where it is always crowded and stinky? This is some racist shit.
