My Very Dear Mr. Rorschalk and Sundry Associates:
I’ve been challenging myself of late to reinvigorate the hoariest and most over-trodden fantasy tropes. Thus, I submit to you “Rats in the Root Cellar”, wherein an innkeeper tasks young adventurers with the extermination of rats from her cellar—only, in this case, the inn is not an inn, the cellar not a cellar, the innkeeper not an innkeeper, and the only rats to be found are rat bastards.
I received my M.F.A. from the University of Iowa Writers Workshop. My work has previously appeared in The Notre Dame Review.
