Moo.
Moo. Moo. Moo.
The Bull is here, doing what bovines do – chewing cud, throwing back some beers, watching soft-porn from the Lazy Boy.
It’s been a tiring few weeks. The Bullmeister could use a vacation. The problem is, with each vacation drama follows. It’s like a curse. So, the Bull has ceased vacation activities and just takes the weekends as they come. There’s one coming, and the Bulldog is jazzed about it. Although he still needs to be up at the crack of ass this weekend.
Speaking of getting up at the crack of ass, we have the cap “Grand Master”.
It starts with a statement about being nailed to The Grand Master now. It held so much potential. What darkness does this cap hold? I really liked the promise of the opening. “There’s no returning to The Before.”
I read with anticipation.
The rest of part one was strong enough, bringing us up to speed with the plot. It didn’t deliver the expected punch I hoped for, but it kept my attention. It setup something sinister something dark. I was waiting for it to unfold.
Part 2 threw in the monkey wrench, they complication. It still wasn’t the level creepiness I would have liked to see. And it kind of weakened toward the end with the whole “the call is coming from inside your house” angle. But again, not bad.
Part 3 was the letdown. The end, the wrap-up, the attempt to both wrap it up, yet leave us uneasy. It didn’t quite hit the target. It was abrupt and seemed to be a cop out.
Overall, the writing was good. I found one typo that was blaring, but no biggie.
Thankfully my father interrupted. “Then these vicitmds need to defend themselves!”
This cap was decent, but I’m not convinced it was monkey good. So, I’m going to say no. Yeah, I know, I’ve been a tough sell lately. Maybe the aquatic one will disagree. I think with some attention and a rewritten ending, this cap would make it into another market. I hope the VC finds it a good spooky home.
