Dear [johnVC],
Sorry we mentioned you in our ezine. We were under the misconception that you sent capital to us, supposedly crafted by yourself. If, in the future, you mistakenly send us capital, we will immediately know you’d rather not be known as [johnVC], and we will heretofore refer to you as Craig Shortdick, Jr. Well, personally, I am glad this problem has been solved. Phew. Right?
Keep it unreal,

Dear Mr. Doomey,
Shortdick would be good. I come from a long line of Shortdicks, and we carry the name with Pride. Or sometimes with Pledge. Anything thick and cylindrical.
Seriously,
But before I continue, are you sure you're using the word heretofore correctly? I've seen it used that way before, and it doesn't make sense to me. "We will heretofore..." meaning "We will up to now..." I don't know. It just doesn't sound right. Maybe hereafter? Or: from now on?
Anyway, my assumption was (and one of your colleagues, whose phony name I forget at the moment, seemed to concur) that the submitters (or whatever financial term applies) on TQR would remain anonymous for the most part. Hence, referring to them as VC or whatnot. If you wanted to refer to us by name, why not do so from the get-go?
I admit to being two-faced on the subject. When it comes to failure, I don't want my name mentioned. However, success is a different story. So, hypothetically speaking, if you were to, say, accept a story of mine, I would gladly see my name in full view of everyone. But rejections? Huh-uh. Only because, if I were to submit, say, AT[redacted] to someone else, and the editor employs Google to check if this masterpiece is truly original, then comes across a page wherein the story and its author are bathed in a flurry of "fucks," no matter the good intentions, well, this might color the editor's judgment somewhat.
That's all. I wasn't upset, or at least I didn't mean to sound that way. It was mostly a request.
To use a family motto, it's no big thing.
All best, [johnVC]

Dear [johnVC],
You are so right. Damn it. Funny enough, I’ve been doing this TQR thing for like fifteen years, and no one has even mentioned this. I always tell the public who, the VC, crafted the capital I reject. Wow. Not saying I will stop mentioning names, but damn, it’s a good point. How many huge writers have I expunged? Right? I’ve never not mentioned the author. Might be one of those things where if you submit to TQR you’ll have your name out there. Hm. God damn you are an awesome dude. Am not used to people who are not over sensitive. Thanks for emailing me. You do rock.

BD,
Now I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not.
In any event, no need to reply. I'll assume you're being on the level. And thanks, by the way, for saying that AT[redacted] isn't a piece of shit.
I'm starting to think otherwise. I'll give it one last edit and one last try in the slush piles, and then put it to rest. I'm sick of working on it. I'm starting to feel like Michael Cimino on Heaven's Gate.
Maybe we'll meet again if I send TQR another story. It'd be a while, though, so don't worry. And if you happen to mention my name, no worries there, either. It will be appear soon enough in the obits anyway.
Take care, [johnVC]

No, sincere. It’s so resplendent to come across a crafter that isn’t all sensitive to a point of court trials. I mentioned to Carol, “Wouldn’t mind working with this fucker,” quoth. And I don’t really like working with anybody whatsoever, heretofore. From here on, we’re friends. Send more capital, please.
