Hello. My name is johnVC a writer based in Winnipeg. I've authored two novels. One is a science fiction joint called Mirror's Edge, published through At Bay Press. The other is a fantasy called Shadow of the Desert Sun, which was through WiDo Publishing. There is also a graphic novel I’ve written with illustrator johnVC slated to be published later this year. In addition, I’ve written short fiction, poetry and non-fiction for a variety of other publications, most recently Broken Pencil Magazine and the Winnipeg Free Press.
The piece I am submitting is called Line Goes Up, a short venture which follows an unnamed protagonist through a day in the life of a dystopian society he has immersed himself in. It is an(sic) speculative satire which lampoons the libertarian finance-bro culture which has risen alongside the popularity of crypto-currency. At its heart, this is a tale about how we often alienate each other, and even ourselves, in our desperate search for community. If you decide this does not suit your needs, any comments or insights you might have would be appreciated.
