Hey ya'll,
Had a good chat on the old phone with Rockefeller (aka Chris) the other day. He's 70 and I am 54. TQR has been extant since 2004. It's certainly not up to date technologically since I am a boomer and I really don't care about tech really. I don't even have a cell phone. I do care however about the process we've got going here. It is unique. I know one huge reason why we've not caught on is exactly because we're so behind technologically speaking. Chris brought up the fact that we would not be able to give the extended care to all the cap that we usually do if we were more popular and therefore more subbed to. So anyway. In a weird kind of way we're right were we want to be. Right? Maybe. Dunno. But that's a whole other story.
I guess my point of writing this is to wonder about the future. Chris and I are not getting any younger. I thought TQR was kaput 6 or so years ago when all our servers bailed on us and we were nothing but an idea again. Bulldust (aka Margret) came in and pulled our ass out of the fire then, put us on a whole new interface or whatever or however you say it. It's all greek to me. She's been our savior recently. So, that being said, it seems like we're destined to last. Somebody out there likes us, is another way of putting it. Like divine (bovine?) intervention. So.
What I'm asking is anyone here in the room that likes what we do here and wants to keep it going far into the future in hopes that one day our uniqueness will get the recognition it deserves. Whether we'll be able to keep that "uniqueness" once recognition and popularity (ie exponentially increaded numbers) occur is the thing, but as I said, that's a whole 'nother story.
Bottomline, I'm certainly willing to hand over the reign eventually to anyone here that wants it as long as they try their best to keep the transparency that is what makes TQR TQR. Once the time comes, of course. I'd like to keep it going as long as possible. I know most of you are probably much younger than Chris and me. Let me know your thoughts.

Alas, the Bullmeister is also pretty long in the tooth. Perhaps we need to recruit younger blood to carry on the legacy. Moo!

That's why I'm starting the conversation now, yo. Before I drop off the face of the Earth (and TQR) because I've dropped dead. Meow!

Dude! You're 54. Unless you've had the jab, you should be okay. And also, you are TQR. Trying to foist, I mean bequeath, it onto someone else makes me think of that scene in Robocop where that big new robot suffers a glitch during its demo. Remember? "Drop your weapon. [Guy drops weapon.] You have ten seconds to comply. You have nine seconds..." and how all suits scury away from the one about to get his ticket punched.

Ha. Yeah. That was a funny scene. And, as well "Give that man a hand!" Old Red from the 70s show wasn't so lovable in Robocop, yo. "Bitches leave!"
[The rorschalk glares at the bull] There's a cap in the terminal with your name written all over it!
Anyhoo. Me no vaxxo, sil vous plait. Just waxing morbid, the thing's the play. What I'm really angling for is to give it all to the fish so he can do it up right one of these days. Wally, you haven't stolen any fizzy lifting drinks lately, have you?
If you want to view paradise
Simply look around and view it
Anything you want to, do it
Want to change the world?
There's nothing to it

I can't go on forever, and I really don't want to try. Who can I trust someone to run the factory when I leave? Not a grown up. Can I?
I have questions.
What's your objective(s) here? Exempli gratia, to grow the popularity of site? To make the site look more modern? To work less on the site yourself, or stop altogether? To have a backup plan in place, even if that plan is not invoked for 10 years?
Chris Rock makes two excellent points: first, that popularity can be overwhelming - would your formula work with ten times as many subs? And, second, that you are TQR - could you deal with the pain of seeing someone else sully your vision?
There is much I admire about TQR. Nay, covet - and would love to pillage for my own e-rag. How do you find and retain such a high quality editorial crew? Presumably you don't pay them? For that matter, how do you pay the authors - does the site make any income? How do people hear about the site, and how many people visit it?
Too many questions, perhaps, after all: curiosity killed the catfish.
Meanwhile, I'm honoured and happy be part of the TQR crew (to the minimal extent that I am) for as long as I'm still deemed useful.

Yes! More like 10 or twenty years down the line. Nothing in the near future. I just would like to see it go on and on and one like a perpetual motion matchine. Can you imagine if we could hand it down generation to generation and it never ends? That's sort of the vision. You are very useful, Charlie.
